The social comedy-drama Dunki, due out in 2023, is on the "Donkey Flight" method of illegal immigration in India. It is produced by Gauri Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, and Jyoti Deshpande under the names Red Chillies Entertainment, Rajkumar Hirani Films, and Jio Studios. Rajkumar Hirani co-wrote and directed it. Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Dia Mirza, and Boman Irani all appear in the movie.

Development

There were rumors that Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani might collaborate in late 2020. Scripting was finished in August 2021. On April 19, 2022, the corporation confirmed the project in a lighthearted announcement video for the general audience. The movie reportedly cost 100 crores to produce.

The movie's script was co-written by Hirani and Kanika Dhillon. Amit Roy, the film's cinematographer, departed the project due to creative differences with Hirani, and C. K. Muraleedharan, who had previously worked with Hirani on 3 Idiots, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and PK, took his place.

Filming

While principal photography began in September 2021, Khan began filming in Mumbai in April 2022 for his scene. After that, the group traveled abroad to Budapest and London. It began in July 2022 and ended in August. Khan filmed a lengthy bike scenario in Mumbai in October involving 500 people. The following 12-day period was set for Saudi Arabia in November.
