Japan is an upcoming criminal comedy film in Tamil language produced by Dream Warrior Pictures and directed by Raju Murugan. S. R. Prabhu is the film's producer. Anu Emmanuel and Karthi are the movie's stars.

August 2022 saw the official announcement of the movie. In November, main photography got underway. In the same month, the official title Japan was made public. While Philomin Raj handled the editing and Ravi Varman handled the cinematography, G. V. Prakash Kumar composed the soundtrack.

The film story is about After stealing gems valued at ₹200 crore from a jewelry store, a renowned master thief from Japan engages in a cat-and-mouse chase with the police.

Japan Movie Release Date

The release date for Japan is set for November 10, 2023, the same day as Diwali and Jigarthanda DoubleX. In addition to Tamil, dubbed versions in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada are also being released.

It was announced in the middle of March 2020 that Raju Murugan and Karthi would be working together on his upcoming film. According to reports from February 2022, the project would launch in May when Karthi completed his obligations to Sardar (2022), Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022), Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023), and Viruman (2022).

According to reports, Dream Warrior Pictures and S. R. Prakash Babu provided funding for the movie. Ravi Varman was apparently brought in to handle the cinematography that May. Murugan made the project's official announcement at a press conference for Viruman at the beginning of August.

It was announced in late September that G. V. Prakash Kumar would be composing the music for the launch, which was scheduled for October. The project was publicly announced by its producers, S. R. Prakash Babu and S. R. Prabhu, on September 11. Chennai hosted a muhurat puja that same day. The same day, the crew—which consists of editor Philomin Raj, composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, and editor Ravi Varman—was also revealed.

On November 14, a first look poster featuring Karthi's appearance in the movie was made public. On May 25, 2023, Karthi's birthday, a first look teaser was released, announcing the movie's Diwali 2023 release date.
