Since it's Nani's thirty-first film in which he plays the lead, the movie Hi Nanna was first announced in January 2023 under the working title Nani 30, with the actual title being unveiled in July of the same year. Hesham Abdul Wahab wrote the film's soundtrack, Sanu Varghese handled the photography, and Praveen Anthony handled the editing.
On January 1, 2023, Vyra Entertainment announced the release of their first production film. The film stars Nani and Mrunal Thakur, and is directed by Shouryuv, who also serves as the crew's first assistant director. Other members of the crew include editor Praveen Anthony, cinematographer Sanu Varghese, art director Jothish Shankar, and composer Hesham Abdul Wahab.
The working title for it was Nani 30. Prior to making his debut, Shouryuv had positions as an associate director and writer. Following Sita Ramam, this is Thakur's second Telugu film. It was revealed in late March that Angad Bedi would be appearing in the cast of his first Telugu movie. It was announced towards the end of April that Shruti Haasan will be joining the cast. The title Hi Nanna was made public on July 13.
Hesham Abdul Wahab, in his first partnership with Shouryuv and Nani, is the composer of the background score and music. T-Series purchased the audio rights.Two singles were released in 2023: "Samayama" on September 16 and "Gaaju Bomma" on October 6.
